Treatment
Couples
Couple's therapy can help you develop better communication skills with your spouse or significant other. Some couples find it difficult to break cycles of toxic fighting, so therapy can help better determine what is going on and provide tools to help resolve relationship problems. I enjoy working with couples, and I have completed Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy which I use in my work. I have gathered powerful resources to guide you in the healing process. Let me be your guide.
Christian Focus
Being a therapist with a Christian-based focus helps me identify how the pillars of the Christian faith are helpful in conjunction with therapy for a person’s inner healing: God is in control and has a plan for our lives, God is both merciful and just. Church communities have many resources for helping with mental health issues, e.g., the guidance of pastors, prayer groups, or retreats. But even priests and pastors often refer members of their community to licensed therapists, recognizing their own limitations. As a practicing Catholic who is respectful of all faith traditions, I would like to help you incorporate your spirituality and faith practices into our sessions and couple them with therapeutic tools.
Depression
Statistics show that many people suffer from depression—you are not alone. Left untreated, depression can be a most invasive and paralyzing condition. In therapy, I can assist you in processing the reasons for your sadness. Together, let's devise a plan that will bring you out of the darkness.
Life Transitions
A major life transition can leave your head spinning, and requires lot of adjusting. If you are a teen who just started high school, are a young adult who finished college or are in the midst of changing careers you are in a life transition. Perhaps you recently got engaged or married, ended a relationship, or moved to a new town, you too are wondering how to navigate this change. Therapy can help you do this in a healthy way. Allow me to listen to how the major change in your life is affecting you, and to help guide you along the way.
Pregnancy/Postpartum Support
Although a most beautiful experience, pregnancy and childbirth often present mental health challenges, including: mood swings, body image issues, pregnancy complications, PTSD from traumatic birth experiences, sleepless nights, postpartum depression, or the difficulties in caring for babies. These life changes can also put a strain on your marriage. If you are looking for support in any of these areas, you're in the right place. If you are feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, I am here to support you. As a mom of two young children, believe me, I understand what you are going through. I would be happy to help.
Anxiety/Stress
This fast-paced world we live in often demands too much: work demands, family strife, rushing around completing endless to-do lists with no time to do them. Throw a pandemic into the mix and now you've got a real recipe for anxiety and stress. I am here to support you by offering some useful tools to cope and regain balance in your life.
Addiction Recovery
Whether you find yourself struggling because of an addiction to an unhealthy relationship and co-dependence or are battling an addiction with Alcohol or other drugs, you are not alone. Searching for a therapist and making the decision to start treatment is an important step to your recovery. In my career I have worked with people affected by addictions in foster care system, people on probation and in jail as well as people at an in-patient rehab treatment. I will help you by tapping into your lost motivation to heal and by supporting you in making lifetime changes that will set you a road of freedom from addictions.
Bereavement/Loss
Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult things anyone can go through. It can be life shattering. Grieving loss requires lots of processing as you develop a “new normal.” Moreover, it is important to figure out how to create new life meaning after losing someone you love. I have firsthand experience with losing a loved one, and I learned that grief can be transformative. I wrote my undergrad thesis on the subject of bereavement and would love to support you during this very painful time.
